Kiwanis International Foundation President
George J. Albright Jr.

George Albright, of Ocala, Florida, is the 2008-2009 president of the Kiwanis International Foundation.

Albright, who has more than 35 years of perfect attendance in the Lake Weir Kiwanis Club, where he also served as president, has been lieutenant governor of the Florida District, chaired numerous committees and was distinguished governor in 1993-1994. Albright’s wife, Aggie, is a Kiwanis member, too, and has served as club secretary and president.

Born in Lake Weir, Albright is the fifth generation of his family to call Florida home. His ancestors were among the first colonial-era pioneer settlers of the area in the late 18th century. In addition to his work with the Lake Weir club, he has served as new club building chairman for Kiwanis International. He’s also a Hixson Diamond 16 member and ambassador and a member of the Heritage Society.

A former executive vice president of National Standard Life, Albright is president of his real estate development company. He is a ruling elder in the Weirsdale Presbyterian Church and has served as chairman of the Marion County Planning Board and Marion County Environmental Preservation Board.

He and his wife have four sons, George III, a former Florida legislator and current Marion County tax collector; David, a family practice physician; and Clay and Justin, who work in commercial real estate and manage the family business partnerships. George and Aggie have eight grandchildren.
