The Kiwanis family is well on its way to raising US$110 million for The Eliminate Project. As of February 16, 2014, Kiwanis-family members around the world have raised more than US$48.2 million in cash and pledges. These critical funds will help UNICEF implement immunization activities aimed to reach 120.7 million women in 2014 and 2015.
Immunization campaigns lead to data review, pre-validation and validation surveys—and ultimately to confirmation that maternal and neonatal tetanus has been eliminated in a country. In fact, several countries are making progress. For example, Madagascar hopes to conduct a validation survey in 2014—and the Philippines, Cambodia and India are reviewing data to determine their readiness.
We’re not just reaching a goal through The Eliminate Project. We’re keeping a promise—to protect the connection between more than 61 million mothers and their babies. History is within our reach. As we approach this pivotal moment, help the Kiwanis family make 2015 a year of celebration. And help fulfill our commitment to change the world forever.
