Stan D. Soderstrom is the executive director for Kiwanis International, a worldwide service organization in more than 80 nations, and the Kiwanis International Foundation.
He was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. He completed undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University and graduate coursework at the University of Texas at Austin. Following graduation, he worked for Sun Oil Company and later worked as a consultant on various oil and gas and corporate/association management projects. In 1992, he joined the Dallas Cowboys football club to assist in the development of a new retail/marketing project, The Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop, and stayed with that organization for a period that included several Super Bowl championships.
In 1997, he joined the staff of Kiwanis International in Indianapolis, and he was responsible for growth of existing youth leadership programs, as well as the introduction and development of new membership-based service clubs for elementary school children and adults with disabilities. During that time, Kiwanis enjoyed a 75 percent increase in total paid membership of its youth and young adult clubs’ membership.
Prior to his present position, he served as chief impact officer for Kiwanis. In that role he focused much of his efforts on the successful growth and development of the Kiwanis’ youth and adult leadership development programs around the world, as well as strategic planning and board governance for Kiwanis International and its two youth organizations, Key Club International and Circle K International.
He serves on several boards including Heartland Truly Moving Pictures, Iodine Global Network and Zionsville Presbyterian Church. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys gardening, home remodeling projects, cooking and dining.
Stan and his wife, Misty, reside in Indianapolis and have two children; a daughter who is an artist and a son who is a US Marine.
