On February 27, the Hendricks, Minnesota, Kiwanis Club coordinated a Kids Against Hunger packaging event. With the generous participation of the community and surrounding area, over 225 volunteers were able to package approximately 84,000 meals in a five hour event.
The Kiwanis Club provided matching funds up to $2,500 with various organizations and individuals contributing additional funds totaling over $12,000 to pay for the meals packaged.
During the week prior to the event, Kiwanians served samples of the rice meal to the elementary school students to encourage their families to participate in the event.
The age of the volunteers ranged from 2 to 96. With Hendricks having a population of just over 700, many generous and willing hands were needed to make the event a success. With everyone's support, great things can happen.
