A resident of Ashland City, Tennessee, John Mayfield makes his concern for children’s health and development a part of his life. The charter president of the Cheatham County Kiwanis Club and current lieutenant governor for Division 14 of the Kentucky-Tennessee District of Kiwanis International, he has made a $100,000 donation to The Eliminate Project—the Kiwanis campaign to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus in more than 30 countries.
In November 2011, John was also part of a Kiwanis delegation that traveled to Sierra Leone to see firsthand the tetanus-elimination efforts of UNICEF (Kiwanis’ partner in The Eliminate Project). John’s travels to hard-to-reach rural villages, where he met the women and children who have benefited from UNICEF’s work, bolstered his commitment and has made him a key part of Kiwanis’ efforts to spread information and inspiration about the Global Campaign for Children.
