Susan Hennum is a resident of Garland, Texas, and a member of Kiwanis International—and she supports Kiwanis’ mission to serve the children of the world in a unique way. Since 2000, she has successfully partnered the two organizations she loves, Kiwanis and Buckner International Shoes for Orphan Souls, to collect hundreds of thousands of shoes for children in orphanages. She has raised many thousands of dollars to purchase even more shoes—much of that generosity coming from her fellow Kiwanians.
This year, Susan’s program benefiting Shoes for Orphan Souls has collected more than 5,000 shoes and $3,000 in donations. Susan shares her inspiration by actively involving other volunteers, including members of Kiwanis youth service programs, in collecting and distributing shoes.
