Club Clinic

Q         One of our members is a candidate for public office in the elections this coming spring. Can the club actively campaign on his behalf?

No. According to club bylaws, the club “shall not be used in any way for political purposes, nor shall it, as a club, actively participate in the political candidacy of any person.”

Q.        We would like to extend the service reach of our club by sponsoring a club, perhaps outside of North America. One of our members heard of something called the World Link Program. What is this program and how will it help us?

Through the World Link Program, an existing Kiwanis club can help build a new club in another country and establish a lasting, mutually rewarding Kiwanis partnership. Under this program, the International Office provides the sponsoring club with a contact in the new club. Then, the sponsoring club corresponds with the new club to determine the kind of support that is needed and to give advice about service projects, membership growth, and administration. Many clubs involved in such sponsoring relationships have continued corresponding for more than 20 years, and exchange visits occur regularly. Targeted areas for the program include the Asia-Pacific Region, Europe and Central Asia, and Latin America.

Q.        Our club was one year old this past month, and a dozen of our members were presented with perfect attendance tabs. We’ve since been told that perfect attendance tabs must be awarded on a calendar-year basis. Is this true?

No. Tabs are awarded after 12 consecutive months of perfect attendance.
