President's message

For ‘one day’ there is Kiwanis

One day … no child will go to bed hungry.

One day … no child will quench his thirst with contaminated water.

One day … no child will cry for the terror of wars happening in her back yard. Or for the brutal betrayal of her parent’s angry hand.

One day … no child will be denied books, teachers, and the opportunity to learn.

One day … no child will shiver homeless in the cold. Or blanket his chill by getting high. Or worse.

One day … all children everywhere will enjoy childhood as it should be: a time of carefree curiosity, limitless creativity, security, comfort, and blissful innocence.

Until that day, there is Kiwanis.

You see, for Kiwanians around the world, “one day” is happening every day through myriad service projects aimed ultimately at making the world a better place for children. It’s one Kiwanian in Ohio who reads to a child struggling to learn. It’s one Kiwanian in Québec who quells a child’s hunger pangs with a hot meal. It’s one Kiwanian in El Salvador who builds a well so children in an underprivileged village can have fresh, clean water. And it’s you: one Kiwanian who, alongside other Kiwanians from 8,000 clubs in more than 90 nations, makes a difference.

On April 7, we will discover together the magnitude of what our service means to the world—and what more still we are capable of accomplishing—as the entire Kiwanis family pools our compassion for humankind in a single day of service: “Kiwanis One Day.”

Young, old, man, woman; from diverse races, nationalities, economic positions, and religions; our collective caring hands will reach out to make history as one powerful force for positive change. Our servant hearts will beat in global synchronicity for service—especially for children.

On April 7:

One Way … will unite Kiwanians who individually can make a difference, into a single service entity strong enough to change the world.

One Day … is set aside to touch lives on an unimaginable scale.

One K … will bring “one day” to children.
