Meet Kay, your convention host
By
now, most Kiwanians know Kiwanis’ 2005 International Convention will be
in Hawaii, but do they know who’s hosting the event? Her name is Kay Hisae
Tokunaga, and she is very excited about the convention.
She receives a lot of assistance from fellow hosts—Kiwanians throughout
the California-Nevada-Hawaii District, but Kay bears the title and responsibilities
of “convention general host.” It’s an assignment she began more than one
year ago.
“The last Kiwanis convention in Hawaii—a California-Nevada-Hawaii District
convention—was in 1975,” says Kay. “That’s 30 years ago! We are glad to
welcome Kiwanis International back to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands!
“Things are progressing nicely. We met with Kelly Sears and Darla Hineman,
from the International Office’s Meetings and Conventions Department this
past January to review tasks and responsibilities. Kelly and Darla are
great planners and mentors, and we are confident that with their expertise
and guidance, we will again deliver an outstanding International Convention
to fellow Kiwanians.” |
