Web slides show fight against IDD
The United States Fund for UNICEF and Kiwanis International have launched
interactive slideshows for clubs to use to learn more about the efforts
and progress of eliminating iodine deficiency disorders (IDD).
“Thanks to a worldwide campaign to iodize salt, tens of millions of children
are protected every year from mental impairment caused by iodine deficiency,”
says Dan Borba, Kiwanis International Foundation executive director. “This
progress is largely due to the support of UNICEF and the Kiwanis family,
who have launched a series of audio slideshows to document their efforts.”
In the slideshows, two videographers share their experiences visiting
iodine deficiency elimination programs in Panama, Romania, and Laos. A
fourth sideshow presents personal stories that bring the elimination of
IDD to life.
