Standards promote consistency—graphically speaking
As part of a global organization, Kiwanis clubs share a common focus
on community service, and recent adoption of Kiwanis International graphic
standards will make certain Kiwanis clubs and their members worldwide
also share a common “look.”
“Following standard graphic guidelines ensures we put forth a consistent
image of who we are and what we do as Kiwanians,” notes Jennefer Pursifull,
Kiwanis International’s director of Marketing Communications. “The International
Board adopted these standards and asks clubs to adhere to the new guidelines
so Kiwanis International can be presented consistently and uniformly in
all parts of the world.”
The guidelines can be found in a newly created Kiwanis International
Graphic Standards Manual. The manual underscores basic design rules and
implementation standards for such applications as using the appropriate
Kiwanis logo, as well as Kiwanis “identity materials,” including letterhead,
taglines, marketing materials, and photo usage. Illustrations accompany
each guideline.
The manual soon will be distributed to Kiwanis clubs in North America
and currently is being translated into six languages for distribution
worldwide by summer. In the meantime, clubs can access the guidelines
online.
Jennefer stresses the guidelines resulted after thorough research and
development.
“Kiwanis International spent almost a year developing the guidelines,”
she explains, “getting input from Kiwanians around the world, including
all of our service centers. Developers took great care to come up with
specific standards that address the unique requirements of our geographic
regions, while maintaining the overall consistency important to maintaining
a common Kiwanis identity.” |
