Advisory Council member embraces Kiwanis partnership

The Young Children: Priority One (YCPO) Advisory Council, a committee of 56 organizations that help Kiwanis in its mission to serve the children of the world, includes the March of Dimes (MOD).

Gwen Carmon, a MOD representative, has been active on the YCPO Advisory Council since 1996. Her role is to connect March of Dimes with Kiwanis and to initiate fund-raising and volunteer development.

“I came up through the ranks of the March of Dimes, and I know how critical clubs and organizations are,” says Gwen. “They’re vital. Many who donate to the March of Dimes are Kiwanians.”

Gwen helps organize the March of Dimes WalkAmerica, a walkathon to help prevent birth defects and infant mortality.

“I guess that’s why I embrace it so much,” Gwen says, “because it makes sense to team up with organizations like Kiwanis; we’re both working to help children.”
