During the past year, 313 people were assisted through the Ahwatukee Foothills YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, which provides scholarships for families who want to use the YMCA facility but cannot afford the membership.

The Kiwanis Club of Ahwatukee, Phoenix, Arizona, partnered with Shenanigans restaurant asking customers to add $1 to their bill to go toward the Strong Kids program.

President Scott Garber says the club chose the YMCA program because it is aimed at helping kids, just as Kiwanis is, and because several members are involved with the YMCA.
