K-Kids—In the News

Kids reach out to fire victims

Eighteen sweet-faced children, members of St. Augustine Catholic School’s K-Kids program in Ohio, banded together to reach out in a meaningful way to a family in need. The students, who range in age from 5 to 9, collected clothing for a family who lost their home and all of their possessions in a fire. The K-Kids presented the family with canned goods, new bedding and towels, blankets, and other items.

“I think it’s just wonderful what they’ve done,” a member of the family said. “It’s neat to see that even kids can realize how to help and that they think about it.”—Akron Beacon Journal

Kids give back to kids

The fifth-grade K-Kids at Chukker Creek Elementary School in South Carolina didn’t waste any time Friday (November 3), quickly packing plastic boxes full of school supplies. The boxes were to be sent overseas for needy children from many countries.

“I wanted to help other kids, and I don’t get chances to do that very much,” club member Ashton Raines says. “It’s fun to help somebody far away.”

The Aiken-Palmetto Kiwanis club, which is the K-Kids club’s sponsor, provided the K-Kids with all the school supplies. And because of the great effort the K-Kids showed, the Kiwanis club will provide it with even more chances to be helpful in the future.—Aiken Today
