The pancake breakfast fundraiser is another favorite, most recently raising $200.
And this past year, they “adopted” a family for Christmas and had a ball shopping for toys and clothes to ensure the family a happy holiday.
But as much as the members of the Red Wing Minnesota Aktion club are making a difference in the world, the Aktion club itself is impacting its members.
“It’s such a sense of camaraderie,” says Red Wing Dawn Busters Kiwanian Bruce Klair. “They really enjoy being together and they feel such pride for what they’re doing in the club. We see a lot of confidence being built.”
Members especially look forward to club meetings—which average 90 to 99 percent attendance—and leadership opportunities. During club elections, each office typically has five or more eager candidates.
“Most inspiring is the interaction we see and how the members encourage each other,” Bruce says. “They have so much enthusiasm, and they pass that enthusiasm on to one another.
