Family ties. Catherine Moore of the Oakville, Ontario, Kiwanis club wonders if anyone can match her family’s record of four generations of Kiwanians. In 1948, her uncle, Reg Guyitt, became a member of the newly formed Kiwanis Club of Ridgetown, Ontario. Over the next 40 years, his son, Gary Guyitt, nephew Peter Guyitt, and his niece Catherine (Guyitt) Moore all joined the club, and Jim Chalmers, nephew of Peter and Catherine, joined the Casa Loma, Toronto club of Ontario. Then, just this past January, Catherine’s granddaughter, Tess Jagecic, joined the Azalea City (The), Palatka, Florida, club.
Kiwanian for the ages. When Lou Livingston marked his 106th birthday this past August, it was his 74th birthday celebrated as a Kiwanian. Lou, a member of the Downtown Spokane, Washington, Kiwanis club, joined the organization in February 1932. Celebrating with him this year for his birthday fete were about 20 fellow Kiwanians, all of whom aspire to match his commitment to the Kiwanis family.
“We consider his longevity and commitment to Kiwanis significant,” notes Chuck Young, past president and current lieutenant governor of Division 46 in the Pacific Northwest District. |
