Post your code
Postal codes move your mail where it needs to go. They also can move your club where it needs to go—as in “up” in membership numbers via member prospect tools.
“Postal codes can make it possible for prospective members—and Kiwanians who want to visit other clubs—to better utilize the Club Locator,” explains Scott Smith, chief technical officer at the International Office.
Currently, the Club Locator, which lists club’s meeting dates, times, and locations, can only search for Kiwanis clubs based on a club’s country/state/province—and sends users to a scroll-down list of club names. By including the postal code of club meeting places, however, visitors would have the option to search a five, 10- or 25-mile radius for clubs in a particular area.
“Our hope is to gather clubs’ postal codes and roll out a better search option for the Club Locator this summer,” Scott says. “We are asking clubs to include their postal code information on their club election reports and in other reporting they send to the International Office.”
In addition to boosting the Club Locator, gathering postal codes will allow clubs conducting membership drives and those involved in new-club building to generate better prospective member lists through more accurately tailored Dun & Bradstreet resource lists.
