Here's a K-Kids issue to care about

Here’s a K-Kid issue to really care about

When the Little Minnesota River overflowed its banks this past March, it flooded the town of Browns Valley, Minnesota, extensively damaging at least 50 homes. Thinking about all the kids who live in those homes prompted the K-Kids club at Robert Asp Elementary School in nearby Moorhead to take action. Hitting up students, teachers, and churches for donations, club members collected more than 1,000 items, including clothing, furniture, and toys.

The October issue of K-Kid Zone includes stories about K-Kids caring for the world's kids.
The October issue of K-Kid Zone includes stories about K-Kids caring for the world's kids.

By responding to the plight of the children in their neighboring community, the students demonstrated one of the core values of K-Kids: caring. It is a trait shared by K-Kids throughout the world, and it is the theme of the October 2007 edition of K-Kid Zone, the official publication of K-Kids.

In addition to a resource K-Kids can use to develop their sense of caring, the issue will include articles about and photos of K-Kids clubs in action, important information about this year’s K-Kids contests, and some tips for K-Kids advisors and parents. The issue will be jam-packed with information and will make a good tool for recruiting members into the K-Kids club your Kiwanis club sponsors.

Copies of the K-Kid Zone will be distributed to schools and advisors later this month. If you don’t receive a copy—or want extras—send an e-mail or call 317-217-6168.
