Q The installation of our club officers will not take place until several days after the first board of directors meeting of this new administrative year. Can these officers and board members still assume their responsibilities at this meeting, even though they have not been formally installed? Also, must the lieutenant governor always install officers?
A The bylaws of a club stipulate all officers “shall enter upon their official duties on the first day of October of each year and shall serve for a term of one year or until their successors shall be duly elected and qualified.” The installation is a time, arranged at the convenience of all concerned, for giving formal recognition to the new officers and directors and not for determining when their terms officially begin.
While it is traditional to invite the lieutenant governor to be the installing officer, there is no formal policy dictating that only he or she must officiate in that capacity.
Q Each month our district bulleting announces club scores for membership growth, attendance, and activities. How are these scores tabulated?
A Club rankings vary from district to district. The district secretary can provide you with complete information on how rankings are determined in your district.
