“We look forward with honor and pride to sharing our beautiful culture with members and their families of Kiwanis’ ASPAC region,” says past Philippine Luzon District governor Wilfredo “Boy” Valencia. “Manila is just one of the interesting places you will find in our country.”
Manila is a good introduction to the 7,107-island nation as it blends the Philippines’ many cultures and reintroduces visitors to the country’s past. History is always nearby in the nation’s capital city, where the National Museum and Intramuros display the influences of nearly four centuries of Spanish occupation. This also is home to many landmarks, including San Agustin Church with its 4,500-pipe organ. Another pipe organ, in St. Joseph’s Church in Las Piñas, is made of bamboo and attracts music-lovers from around the world.
Manila adds modern touches too, such as vibrant nightlife, theater ranging from folklore to experimental, luxurious hotels, and fashionable shops.
Of course, Manila’s tourist attractions will serve as an exciting bonus to all the entertainment and many Kiwanis activities, workshops, and educational opportunities planned at the ASPAC convention, which, Boy says, will be a celebration.
“Together, we will make a difference,” he says. “Let us convert our Kiwanis passion into action. Let us celebrate and meet old friends while we make new friends. Let us all attend and enjoy the 32nd ASPAC Conference in Manila.” |
