Celebrate Kiwanis Family Month
For Kiwanians, service is all in the family.
For some, this means pairing with a Circle K group to help with a fundraiser. For others, it means offering hours during a service project with an Aktion Club. And others stage inter-club meetings to get to know Kiwanians in another city or town.
The Kiwanis family is made up of the Kiwanis International Foundation, Key Leader, Kiwanis, Circle K, Key Club, Builders Club, Aktion Club, K-Kids, and Kiwanis Junior. |
The options are endless, and so is the fun.
November marks Kiwanis Family Month, a time when all members of the Kiwanis family should plan to come together for service, fundraising, and fellowship. Though Kiwanians often conduct projects with other members of the family throughout the year, it’s especially important to do so in November.
“Kiwanis Family Month is our opportunity to have a family reunion of sorts,” says International President Nelson Tucker. “It’s appropriate that it takes place in November as it also is an opportunity for our organization to recognize and give thanks to the youth and Kiwanis members who support our thriving Service Leadership Programs.”
Kiwanis Family Month also marks two important weeks to observe: Key Club Week and Foundation Week.
During Key Club Week, the first week in November, Key Clubbers worldwide will raise funds for a school in Uganda.
“Two years ago, we helped fund the school, and now that it’s built, we are going to donate the needed supplies,” says Key Club International President
Shivani Radhakrishnan.
During Kiwanis International Foundation Week, also observed the first week of November, clubs are encouraged to share the foundation’s story, says Kiwanis International Foundation President Eddie Callis.
