Newborns’ needs forge partnership for change
Babies are in crisis today. In the United States alone, one-half million are born prematurely every year, and the number is rising. Premature birth is the nation’s number-one killer of newborns and a major cause of serious health problems, costing society billions of dollars every year.
That’s why Kiwanis International and the March of Dimes are working together to raise funds for research into the cause of premature births. During the week of November 19-25, Kiwanis clubs are encouraged to collect coins for the March of Dimes, which has designated November as Prematurity Awareness Month.
To cash the cash, call a local March of Dimes office, or take the coins to a Coinstar location. Before depositing coins in a Coinstar counter, select the “donate” option at the beginning of the transaction and follow the on-screen prompts to make a donation to the March of Dimes (Code 1-2-3-0). The machine will count the money and dispense a receipt.
Kiwanis coin bags may be requested from a local March of Dimes office or by calling 800-525-9255. |
