Famous, inspirational: Montréal has both
The last time Kiwanis International visited Montréal, Québec, for its
annual convention, Jimmy Durante was there. So too were Liberace and a
moon-landing Canadian astronaut. Who knows who may show up at the 2006
International Convention? Elton John? The Phantom of the Opera? Liberace?
What is known is that the Famous People Players (FPP) will return to
the Kiwanis convention stage with a cast of popular puppet personalities.
Kiwanians who attended the 1998 International Convention will remember
their performance, about which the FPP
Web site declares: “What you see is sensational. What you
don’t see is inspirational.”
The Toronto, Ontario-based troupe showcases the talents of persons who
have developmental disabilities. They combine the artistry of puppetry,
music, choreography, and black-light technology to stage a variety of
acts: rock ’n’ roll, Broadway, movies, and humorous skits.
“(We) instill in the hearts and minds of everyone that dreams can come
true when you believe in yourself,” the FPP Web site states.
Plan now to attend the 91st Annual Kiwanis International Convention in
Montréal, June 28-July 2. |
