John G. Tyner II

John G. Tyner II of Rockville, Maryland, was appointed to a three-year term as a trustee of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund Board, beginning October 1, 2017. He was re-appointed as trustee for an additional three-year term beginning October 1, 2020.
A member of Kiwanis for 40 years, John has held various positions including district coordinator/advocate for The Eliminate Project, zone administrator for the Capital District of Circle K International, chair of the Capital District growth team, and Capital District Chair for the IDD (Iodine Deficiency Disorders) Project from 1995-2001.
John has served three terms as president of the Rockville Kiwanis Club, earning the title of distinguished president, and two terms as distinguished lieutenant governor. In the 2000-01 administrative year, John led the Capital District as its governor and then was appointed to fill the remaining term of the Capital District governor in 2002-03. He served as district trustee from 2011-14.
John is a Kiwanis Life Member, a George F. Hixson Fellow (Diamond level 82), twice a Legion of Honor recipient, member of both the Heritage Society and the Founders Circle (Ruby level), a Centennial Award holder, a Charter Walter Zeller Fellow (Diamond level 100), and a Lead Gift donor to The Eliminate Project.
Outside of Kiwanis, John is president of Taliesan Associates, past president of the Rockville Chamber of Commerce and of the Maryland Municipal League, past four-term council member of the City of Rockville and currently serving his fourth term as a member of the City’s Planning Commission and as a member of the North Bethesda Traffic Management District Advisory Committee.
John has two children and two grandchildren.
