WORLD IMMUNIZATION WEEK

Get Involved

Every day, 15,000 children die around the world. Many of those lives could be saved if children and their families had access to vaccines. Working together, the world eliminated deadly smallpox. We’re on the verge of eradicating polio; and we’re closing in on the mother-and-newborn-killer, tetanus.

During World Immunization Week (April 24-30, 2018), Kiwanis International joins UNICEF USA, LDS Charities, Rotary International, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other organizations to support vaccines and immunization for every child around the world because #VaccinesWork and save lives.

FINISH THE FIGHT

Now, more than ever, we are determined to finish what we started. Mothers and babies in 15 countries are depending on Kiwanis. They’re waiting for us to fulfill our pledges — so we can turn promises into funding; funding into vaccines; and vaccines into lives saved and futures protected from maternal and neonatal tetanus. The end of this disease means the beginning of better health for so many of these families.

Changing lives by supporting immunizations worldwide

Great progress has happened since the start of The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus. Millions of lives have been changed for the better.

Read about the success of The Eliminate Project.

A MOTHER'S GRIEF

How do you cope with the loss of your son who was born healthy and within three days is very sick and would die a horrible and painful death?

CHANGING FEAR TO JOY

We made our way into the peripheral health unit, and I was amazed at how cool the building was.

MOTHERS EVERYWHERE

“She stopped feeding. Then my baby was turning blue,” recalls the mother whose baby was the last known case of neonatal tetanus in Solana, Philippines.

WHAT TRUST CAN DO

Before I went to the Philippines in April, I trusted that the money Kiwanians have been donating to The Eliminate Project was going to the right cause at the right time.

A FAMILY ISSUE

I vividly remember the concern I always felt in the back of my mind that the pregnancy was progressing along safely and that both my wife and baby were healthy. These men were no different.

PLANTING SEEDS OF HOPE

I met a woman named Ajok Madut in  the remote town of Kuajok in South Sudan. Ajok has given birth seven times, but only three of her children are alive.
