Kiwanis Member Dues
Members of local Kiwanis clubs pay annual membership dues to their club. The dues paid by the member generally go to support their Kiwanis club, the Kiwanis district and Kiwanis International.
The total amount a member pays in dues entirely depends on his or her club and district. Each district sets district dues according to its budgetary needs, as does each club. Some clubs, for example, may set higher dues to account for meals provided during meetings or to cover meeting rental space, while others may set lower dues and leave meals up to the individual member.
Kiwanis International member dues are set at US$52 per year for Tier A*; $34 for Tier B* and $23 for Tier C* clubs. (Check this list for district tier status.) These amounts have not changed since 2015 and, per Kiwanis International bylaws, can only be changed by a vote of the delegates at a Kiwanis International convention. (Each district finalizes its own dues and fees based on its budgetary needs for the upcoming administrative year by mid-September for implementation in October. Additionally, for members in clubs in the US and Canada, there is a cost of $8 for Kiwanis publications, $18 for liability insurance and $4 for Directors & Officers Insurance.
A simplified dues policy began on October 1, 2021. On that date, the New Member Fee was eliminated from Kiwanis International and all Kiwanis districts. Instead, anyone who joins a Kiwanis club during the Kiwanis year will be charged prorated dues and fees, based on the month they join. (See the chart below.) On each subsequent October 1 (the first day of the Kiwanis year), all members will then be assessed the annual dues-and-fees amount.
The elimination of the New Member Fee was decided by the Kiwanis International Board in October 2019 to take effect on October 1, 2021.
Kiwanis International's annual financial and audit reports are available for review. Those reports provide more information about Kiwanis International's expenses, which dues support. Some of those expenses include costs related to meetings and conventions, printing and shipping club resources, grants, the Kiwanis website and other membership materials.
