Kiwanis clubs around the world have stepped up to help their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the world watched the pandemic engulfing areas of Italy, for example, Kiwanis members were finding ways to help.

  • The Kiwanis Club of Bergamo Orobico shelved its planned service project and instead distributed 50 shopping vouchers for families to buy necessities.
  • The Kiwanis Club of Senigallia provided much-needed supplies to a local hospital. One club member enlisted his employer’s connections to secure 5,500 masks which were donated to the local hospital. The employer, The Future Technology company, helped arrange delivery of the masks from China. A local bank helped cover the costs.
  • Italian model and TV presenter Valeria Marini recorded a video and lent her name to advertising that encouraged donations to support the purchase of ventilators. Working with Kiwanis, Marini spread the word that donations — large or small — would help medical professionals on the front lines of the pandemic.

These are just a few of the ways that Kiwanians continue to serve communities in a time of crisis — in Italy and around the world.
