For the past 30 days, the children have been living in motels because Hurricane Florence inundated Lumberton, North Carolina, with more than a foot of water in September. On October 26, the kids, who are from one of the poorest counties in North Carolina, were able to forget about their destroyed homes and learn there are people in the community who care about them.

The children received boxes of food, school supplies and clothes bought from grants given by the Kiwanis Children's Fund and others. Key Club members in the Carolinas District even made blankets for the kids.

There were a lot of high fives and even more hugs as the kids shouted out, "Thank you, Kiwanis!" See how you can help, because #KidsNeedKiwanis.
