Ivan Nemenzo Kiwanis International mourns the death of Ivan Garcia "Van" Nemenzo. The governor of the Philippine South District died Wednesday, June 13, 2018. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Metro Bacolod and the Kiwanis Club of Cebo-Axis.

Nemenzo joined Kiwanis in 1986 and served in various roles including club president and lieutenant governor.  He was elected governor in September 2017 at the Philippine South District convention in Tagaytay City.

"We will miss the energy and love Governor Ivan brought to Kiwanis," said 2017-18 Kiwanis International President Jim Rochford. "Every day, Governor Ivan worked to improve the lives of children in the Philippines. He will be missed."

Friends describe Nemenzo as a trusted mentor and advisor. He was frequently offering encouragement and rallying fellow Kiwanians to help give children the boost they need to thrive, prosper and grow.

The 58-year-old attorney dedicated this Kiwanis year to increasing membership in the Philippine South District and is among the leaders in new-club openings.

"Not only did Governor Ivan want to help children, he wanted to help Kiwanis grow," said Rochford. "He was a leader in bringing Kiwanis to new communities."

Nemenzo was awarded a George F. Hixson Fellowship by the Kiwanis Children's Fund. He is survived by his wife Nelia, three daughters and a son. A memorial service will be held on June 24 in Bacolod City, Philippines.
