Plan a great trip to convention

Walt Disney World 2019 Convention

So, you’ve decided to attend the 2019 Kiwanis International Convention at Walt Disney World® Resort. We’re glad you’re joining us.

First things first, book your room at official resort hotels. All convention activities will be held at the Coronado Springs Hotel — Opening, Business and Closing Sessions, education workshops and the World Showcase. Book soon to make sure you’re close to all the action.

Remember: Kiwanis clubs in good standing are allowed two representatives in the House of Delegates, along with two alternates. Find out who your club is sending — it could be you. A club’s budget should cover some or all of the costs of sending two representatives; so ask your club leadership team to find out what has been budgeted.

Know who is running for office by looking at the candidates’ information on the elections page. Click on the names highlighted in blue to be better informed when you vote.

Join your friends on Wednesday, June 26, at the welcome reception. Head to the Kiwanis Showcase from 4 to 6 p.m. for light snacks, a cash bar and entertainment.

You’ll want to plan your days and maximize your time, so find out about the convention’s daily schedule and speakers.

“Good to Great” author Jim Collins will present on Thursday, June 27. Collins has done in-depth research about what makes great companies great and will share his observations and inspire Kiwanians to reach new heights.

Founder of the nonprofit organization Because I Said I Would, Alex Sheen will share a message about how promises kept contribute to a better society. He will speak during the Opening Session on June 27.

Our featured speaker on Saturday, June 29, will be Dillon Kalkhurst, author of “Generation Everyone! — A guide to Generational Harmony at Work, School and Home." Dillon is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Ormond Beach in Florida.

If music is your thing, you won’t want to miss the Kiwanis Gala: An Evening with Don Felder, on Saturday, June 29. Felder was lead guitarist of one of the world's most popular and best-selling bands in history, the Eagles.

Don’t forget the Signature Project Contest luncheon on Thursday, June 27. If your district entered the contest and made the Top 10, you may want to attend. Read more about the contest.

For those who will visit the theme parks, Convention Chair Matthew Cantrall and his wife, Cheryl, share useful tips to help you prepare for your visit, including how to avoid long lines and prioritize your experience choices.
