Thank a teacher

Even in normal times, teachers are essential. But now more than ever, it’s important to let them know how much you appreciate them — whether you’re a student, a parent or just someone who wants to say thanks. In a time of social distancing, here are some ideas:

  • Write an email to a teacher, outlining all they have done for you or others.
  • Make a quick video and email it to a teacher.
  • Research your local or national news outlets to see if they have a system for publicly thanking teachers.
  • Share thanks over social media.
  • Create a card, or search “thank a teacher card” on the internet to choose a ready-made design for customization.
  • Send them a postcard at the school: It will be a pleasant surprise to them when they return.
  • Ask what materials they will need once they go back to school. Then plan to secure the items via donations or purchases.
  • Ask them if they need speakers on certain subjects, and see among your Kiwanis contacts who could help.
