IRA CONTRIBUTION: A TAX-FREE WAY TO SUPPORT THE KIWANIS CHILDREN’S FUND

Kiwanis members who are 70½ or older have a special opportunity to support the mission of Kiwanis International while saving on taxes. You can give any amount (up to US$100,000) a year from your individual retirement account directly to the Kiwanis Children’s Fund or another qualified charity without having to pay income taxes through an IRA charitable rollover.

Here are a few important reminders:

  • Donors age 70½ or older are eligible.
  • Tax-free IRA transfers may amount up to US$100,000 annually.
  • This opportunity applies only to IRAs. Other retirement plans are not eligible.
  • Donors may give to more than one charity through an IRA.

If you are making an IRA rollover gift and are using a check from your IRA account, the check must be received by December 16 to ensure the contribution reduces your taxable income for 2023.

Mail the donation to:

 IRA minimum distributions

The Internal Revenue Service recently changed the rules about IRA minimum distribution opportunities, allowing those who qualify to write checks directly from their IRA accounts instead of having to go through an investment advisor. This is another great way to support the work Kiwanis is doing around the world to improve the lives of children.

Note: The Kiwanis Children’s Fund does not provide financial or legal advice. We recommend you consult your financial and legal advisors about your personal situation before making a gift.
