Trick or treat for UNICEF

Trick or Treat for UNICEF

This year marks a major milestone: the 75th anniversary of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!

It all began on Halloween night in 1950, when children across the United States collected coins to help those affected by World War II. That simple, powerful act launched what has become the longest-running youth engagement campaign in the U.S. — and a beloved tradition that has inspired generations to make a difference.

Over the past 75 years, nearly US$200 million has been raised for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, showing the world what is possible when young people come together for good. We’re proud that the Kiwanis family continues to play a key role in this historic movement.

Where the money will go

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF donations raised by Circle K International and K-Kids will go to Brick x Brick, CKI’s project supporting UNICEF’s efforts in Côte d’Ivoire. A women-led recycling market there converts plastic waste into safe and durable bricks, which will be used to build classrooms for children.

The money raised by Key Club, Builders Club and Aktion Club through Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF will go toward Start Strong: Zambia. This Key Club project supports UNICEF’s early childhood development work in Zambia with a focus on providing sustainable, community-based support for children, families and caretakers.
