The addition is a milestone in the program‘s growth.

The Kiwanis family is celebrating an important development in its worldwide growth: Italy-San Marino has become the first district in Europe for Key Club International, the Kiwanis Service Leadership Program (SLP) for teens ages 14-18. The district is the program’s 34th overall.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Italy-San Marino,” says Michelle Study-Campbell, chief philanthropy officer of Kiwanis International. “This milestone represents the culmination of four years of work to establish Key Club’s first district in Europe and expands our ability to bring Key Club’s mission to students across the globe.”

For Italy-San Marino’s first district governor, Ilaria Smedile, being part of the Kiwanis family also represents expanded possibilities for members.

“Key Club isn’t just about service hours,” Smedile says. “It’s about developing heart, leadership and lifelong friendships. Having the guidance and support of Kiwanis allows us all to dream bigger and push our impact further than we ever could alone.”

The sight of members at Italy-San Marino’s first district convention in October was especially memorable for Nunzio Spampinato, the Italy-San Marino governor for Kiwanis International.

“Seeing young people from different backgrounds unite around shared values and feel part of something greater was truly unforgettable,” he says. “As governor, my greatest pride comes from knowing that this is only the beginning. We’re not just shaping the future of Key Club, but empowering a generation ready to make a difference.”
